Barrett Bready, M.D., President and CEO, Director

Dr. Bready has served as CEO of NABsys since 2005. He led the acquisition of GeneSpectrum as well as the execution of the licensing deal with Brown University. Since joining NABsys, Barrett has been named one of the top "30 under 30" in New England by Mass High Tech: The Journal of New England Technology and one of "25 movers and shakers" in the state of Rhode Island by the magazine Rhode Island Monthly. Barrett teaches "Biotechnology Management" at Brown University where he holds the position of Adjunct Assistant Professor of Biotechnology. Dr. Bready received his M.D. from Brown Medical School and his Sc.B. in Physics from Brown University, both as part of Brown's eight-year Program in Liberal Medical Education. He co-chairs BioGroup, Rhode Island’s biotechnology industry organization. Dr. Bready serves on the Board of Directors of the Brown Medical Alumni Association and is a Trustee of the Providence Preservation Society and WaterFire.

Gina Raimondo, Director

Gina Raimondo is a General Partner and co-founder of Point Judith Capital, a leading early-stage healthcare, information, and communications technology venture capital firm where she is in charge of healthcare investing. Prior to founding Point Judith Capital, Ms. Raimondo was a Senior Vice President of Village Ventures, an early stage venture capital firm in Williamstown, MA. Earlier in her career, Ms. Raimondo practiced law. She holds a BA from Harvard, a JD from Yale University, and a PhD from Oxford University where she was a Rhodes Scholar.

Stan Rose, Ph.D., Director

Stan Rose is a Ph.D. biologist, seasoned biotechnology executive, and serial entrepreneur. He is President of Rose Ventures, Inc., a firm that provides consulting and direction in the life science research products space, and manages a portfolio of public and private equity investments. Dr. Rose is a Director of NABsys, Inc., and a Member of Tactics II SC Management LLC. Highlights from his 20+ year career in the genomics research products business include serving as CEO of NimbleGen Systems, Inc., a microarray products company, from 2003 through its acquisition by Roche in 2007; founding and growing Genetic MicroSystems, a microarray instrumentation company that was sold to Affymetrix in 2000; and directing the PCR business for Perkin-Elmer and Applied Biosystems during its most dynamic growth phase in the 1990s. He received his B.A. from Cornell University and his Ph.D. from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Ray Stata, Director

Ray Stata is Founder and Chairman of the Board of Analog Devices, a multinational semiconductor company, and Founder of Stata Venture Partners. Mr. Stata also serves as Vice Chairman of the Semiconductor Industry Association. He received BSEE and MSEE degrees from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and is a member of the MIT Corporation. He is a member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences and the National Academy of Engineering, and was the recipient of the 2003 IEEE Founder’s Medal.

John S. Oliver, Ph.D., Vice President of Research & Development

John Oliver joined NABsys Inc. in March of 2007 as Vice President of Research and Development. Prior to joining NABsys, Dr. Oliver was Chief Scientific Officer and Co-Founder at GeneSpectrum, a biotechnology company developing patterned probes for application to sequencing by hybridization. Prior to his work at GeneSpectrum, Dr. Oliver was Assistant Professor of Chemistry at Brown University. He received his doctorate degree in chemistry from Northwestern University and his bachelors of science in chemistry from Harvey Mudd College.
