Director of Nanodetector Development

Reporting to the Vice President of Technology Development, the Director of Nanodetector Development will lead advancement of our cutting-edge electronic DNA mapping technology, with a focus on our detectors. - Lead the product development of our nanodetector chips, advancing our electronic genome mapping technology to achieve strategic business objectives
- Oversee the development and optimization of automated run protocols to control DNA sample flow through our microfluidic instrument and nanodetectors, continuously improving data quality and throughput
- Work closely with semiconductor foundry partners to develop new detector designs and monitor wafer fabrication processes
- Build, lead, and mentor a high-performing team, fostering a culture of innovation, technical rigor, and collaborative problem-solving
- Collaborate with senior leadership to define strategic roadmap and set priorities for detector development, ensuring a balance between immediate deliverables and long-term product innovation
- Partner closely with Engineering, Assay Development, Product Management, and Software teams to ensure detector technology advancements are effectively integrated into the larger OhmX platform and meet product goals
- Produce clear, comprehensive technical reports and presentations, regularly communicating progress and actionable insights to senior leadership
- Remain current with emerging technologies in microfluidics, nanotechnology, and related fields to help identify new opportunities for innovation
- Ph.D. in Biotechnology, Chemistry, Physics, Engineering or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and significant experience (e.g. M.S. with 10+ years of relevant experience)
- 7+ years of experience in microfluidics, nanotechnology, single-molecule genomics technologies, or other innovative bioanalytical platforms
- Hands-on experience with MEMS/NEMS devices and familiarity with fabrication processes
- Expertise in fluid dynamics, electrochemistry, and surface chemistry within microfluidic systems would be ideal
- Experience with technology development and productization, including troubleshooting, design iteration, and validation
- Proven track record of leadership and team management in a scientific or technical setting
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with demonstrated ability to collaborate across disciplines and functional teams
