Title: Quality Assurance Scientist

Nature of Role: The Quality Assurance Scientist is based at Nabsys’ Providence, RI headquarters and plays a central role in validating the hardware and software systems of the OhmX instrument platform, a novel technology in the next-generation sequencing space focused on high-resolution DNA mapping. This position requires regular, hands-on presence in our laboratory facility and is equally focused on wet lab sample preparation and structured testing of instrument control software. Title and level will be determined based on the candidate’s background and experience; we welcome applications across a range of career stages

  • Execute hardware and software test plans against written specifications, recording results, deviations, and defects with clarity and consistency
  • Prepare and run biological samples using standard wet lab techniques, including precision low-volume sample handling with micropipettes
  • Reproduce, isolate, and characterize failures across hardware subsystems and instrument control software
  • Produce clear, detailed bug reports and interface with engineering teams to track issues through resolution
  • Develop test cases, test scripts, and validation protocols as the product evolves covering positive, negative, and regression scenarios
  • Contribute to design reviews and provide QA perspective on testability and acceptance criteria
  • Maintain accurate records in accordance with quality system requirements, including SOPs, test logs, and traceability documentation
  • Communicate findings clearly to cross-functional teams across hardware, software, and applications
  • A bachelor’s degree or higher in Biology, Biochemistry, Biomedical Engineering, or a related life sciences field
  • At least two years of professional laboratory experience with demonstrated hands-on bench skills
  • Hands-on proficiency with micropipettes and wet lab techniques for low-volume, precision sample preparation
  • Methodical, process-driven approach to testing with strong attention to detail
  • Experience executing structured software test plans, verification and validation (V&V) protocols, or formal test case documentation is preferred; we will train the right person with strong laboratory fundamentals
  • Background in genomics, next-generation sequencing library preparation, or DNA/RNA sample handling is a plus
  • Exposure to lab instrumentation such as fluidics, optics, or electromechanical systems is a plus
  • Familiarity with bug-tracking tools such as Jira or GitHub Issues is a plus
  • Experience in a regulated or quality-managed environment (ISO, GMP, or similar) is a plus
  • This is not a remote or pure software testing role; candidates whose background is exclusively in software or SaaS quality assurance without hands-on bench laboratory experience will not be a strong fit

Plus Skills:

  • Experience with source control, continuous integration and testing methods (i.e., Git, Bitbucket)
  • In depth knowledge of software testing methodology, test development, and test exection
